The gland body threads into a knockout or prepared hole in the enclosure wall, and an internal rubber sealing ring compresses around the cable outer sheath when the gland is tightened, gripping the cable firmly and sealing the entry point against dust and moisture ingress. The mechanical grip of the sealing ring also provides strain relief, preventing tension on the cable from being transmitted to the internal electrical connection.
