The Paprsky 3-Slide Universal Weld Gauge (80°–160°) is a high-precision, versatile dimensional inspection instrument engineered for thorough evaluation of welded joints and pre-weld preparations. Combining a primary scale, an adjustable slider, and a multi-function probe within a single rugged stainless steel body, it enables inspectors and fabricators to verify bevel preparation angles up to 160°, linear dimensions up to 60 mm, seam reinforcement height, root fit-up gaps, and base metal thickness. Built to withstand demanding shop-floor and site conditions across shipbuilding, boiler fabrication, bridge erection, and pressure vessel manufacturing, this tool ensures welded assemblies consistently conform to strict engineering specifications and quality standards.

Key Features
- Multi-Purpose Weld Inspection: Supports comprehensive verification of bevel angles, weld seam reinforcement, fit-up gaps, and base metal thickness in a single instrument.
- Extended Angular Range: Features a wide-angle protractor scale capable of measuring preparation and joint bevels from 80° up to 160°.
- Expanded Linear Capacity: Delivers an extended 0 to 60 mm linear measuring scale for larger weld profiles and thicker plate sections.
- Durable Stainless Steel Construction: Premium polished satin-finish stainless steel body offers superior wear resistance, structural rigidity, and rust prevention in rugged field environments.
Usage Instructions
- Ensure the slider moves freely and all scales align precisely to zero before taking measurements.
- Lock the depth gauge, lower the slider to touch the weld crown, and read the reinforcement height directly from the scale.
- Rest the gauge body flat against the base plate and slide the probe tip to contact the vertical member for fillet dimensions.
- Align the gauge against the joint and extend the pointer to touch the centre of the weld face to determine throat thickness.
- Zero the height gauge, then insert the narrow probe tip into any surface undercut or pit to measure defect depth.
- Adjust the pivoting protractor arm to measure joint bevel angles (80°–160°) or span across the overall weld width.
- Insert the tapered wedge into the root gap opening and read the clearance scale at the precise point of contact.
Applications
- Bridge & Structural Steelwork: Verifying fillet-weld leg lengths, throat thickness, and structural seam integrity in high-load structural assemblies.
- Shipbuilding & Marine Fabrication: Inspecting weld-preparation angles, fit-up gaps, and seam alignment on heavy hull plating and marine piping systems.
- Oil & Gas Pipelines: Measuring high-low joint misalignment and assessing pitting or corrosion depth across transmission pipeline walls.
- Pressure Vessel & Boiler Manufacturing: Conducting quality-control inspections for weld crown reinforcement, root penetration, and undercut depths to ensure code compliance.
