Usage Instructions

1. Ensure the slider moves freely and all scales align precisely to zero before taking measurements.
2. Lock the depth gauge, lower the slider to touch the weld crown, and read the reinforcement height directly from the scale.
3. Rest the gauge body flat against the base plate and slide the probe tip to contact the vertical member for fillet dimensions.
4. Align the gauge against the joint and extend the pointer to touch the centre of the weld face to determine throat thickness.
5. Zero the height gauge, then insert the narrow probe tip into any surface undercut or pit to measure defect depth.
6. Adjust the pivoting protractor arm to measure joint bevel angles (80°–160°) or span across the overall weld width.
7. Insert the tapered wedge into the root gap opening and read the clearance scale at the precise point of contact.
