The Paprsky Hi-Lo Weld Check (Metric/Standard) Gauge is a multipurpose pre-weld alignment and inspection tool designed for internal pipe fit-up and wall-thickness measurement. Its sliding body and specialised interior alignment stops allow users to verify pipe alignment and spacing before welding. The gauge helps support correct fit-up and reduce conditions that can contribute to socket-weld cracking. It provides both metric and standard scale readings and includes precision-milled gap stops along with a standard bevel-check function.

Paprsky provides precision welding inspection instruments designed to support accurate fit-up, alignment, and weld-quality checks. The Hi-Lo Weld Check (Metric/Standard) Gauge helps welding professionals verify pipe positioning and gap spacing before welding, supporting improved joint preparation and helping prevent socket-weld cracking.

Key Features

  • Metric and Standard Readings: Supports measurements using both millimetre and inch-based scales.
  • Internal Alignment Stops: Specialised stops assist with evaluating internal pipe alignment and fit-up.
  • Sliding Body Design: Enables the gauge body to be positioned accurately against the outside of the pipe.
  • Pipe Wall-Thickness Measurement: Supports inspection of wall thickness during fit-up verification.
  • Precision-Milled Gap Stops: Includes 1/16 in. and 3/32 in. stops for checking pre-set gap spacing.

Usage Instructions

  1. Loosen the screw and insert the gauge feet into the pipe gap.
  2. Rotate the gauge 90° so that it spans both pipe walls.
  3. Pull the gauge back until the interior alignment stops contact the inside of the pipe.
  4. Slide the gauge body against the exterior pipe surface and tighten the screw.
  5. Remove the gauge and read the measurement from the graduated scales.

Applications

  • Oil & Gas: Pre-weld pipe fit-up inspection for high-pressure piping and leak-prevention work.
  • Power Plants: Inspection of critical steam-line and nuclear piping alignment.
  • Shipbuilding: Pipe and hull-plate alignment checks for marine fabrication work.
  • Structural Steel: Weld-quality and alignment inspection for building and bridge fabrication.
